Breaking News (In Case You Missed It): Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
"I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the decision of the Nobel committee," Obama said in a short speech, "To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize."
The Nobel Committee announced that Obama won the prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," saying it had "attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons."
Thorbjoern Jagland, the Chairman of the Nobel Committee, commented, "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," also remarking, "In the past year, Obama has been a key person for important initiatives in the U.N. for nuclear disarmament and to set a completely new agenda for the Muslim world and East-West relations."
He then added that the committee endorsed "Obama's appeal that 'Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.' "
Also worth noting-the runners up include, among many others, a doctor who founded a hospital to treat victims of sexual violence in the Congo, and a French Columbian ex-hostage and freedom fighter.

Just amazing that he was nominated. UGH! It's a slap in the face to people who genuinely earned it.

I was so disgusted when I heard this earlier today. He has done NOTHING!
